FOB, CIF or DAP: choosing terms for spare parts shipments
The right term depends on whether you can clear customs at destination and who you trust with the freight booking.
FOB is the simplest starting point for a first order: we deliver to the named Chinese port, you control the freight forwarder and see the actual cost. It also keeps the invoice value and the freight cost separate, which matters for duty calculation in some markets.
CIF suits buyers who do not have a forwarder relationship yet, but the freight is booked by us and the cost is built into the price. DAP is only practical when you can clear import formalities yourself; otherwise the shipment can sit at destination while storage charges accumulate.
